Values
Empathy
Show concern for other people’s feelings and connect to them on a personal level. Being empathetic towards my patients calms their anxiety and improves health outcomes. I am aware of my patients’ emotional needs and respond appropriately to their concerns. I make sure to keep myself updated with significant life events and personal details about my patients because I care about what’s happening in their lives. It’s important for me to instill trust just as it’s important for my patients to build trust. It’s important for my patients to feel seen and heard. When my patients interact with a physician who is empathetic towards their needs, they are more likely to follow recommendations and make positive lifestyle changes.
Integrity
Demonstrate sound moral and ethical principles and do the right thing, no matter who's watching. I live up to my own standards by having character. Integrity is the core value for delivering ethical healthcare. Integrity in my field is extraordinarily important as the field of pain management is traditionally defined by bad actors. My medical practice has outlasted scores of other pain practitioners since its founding by doing the right thing for patients. By staying true to our purpose, our practice has thrived and built a foundation of trust with the community I serve. Everyone who works with us, whether they are patients, practitioners, lawyers, or insurance companies knows who we are and what our reputation is.
Freedom
The power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. I started this practice because I wanted to be part of an organization that subscribed to my own unique brand of pain philosophy. The freedom I was able to gain by operating independently enabled me to practice medicine in a way that empowered my patients to live their best life. One focus of my practice has been to return autonomy to my patients. I want them to realize they’re in the driver’s seat and that they are capable of establishing the safe, sustainable habits that will deliver a greater quality of life. Emerging therapies and technologies are available that will allow them more independence in making choices to control their pain on their own terms.
